Early Childhood Program

New Early Childhood Program
Our Savior Lutheran School will launch an entirely new Early Childhood program the 2007-2008 school year. We are pleased to announce some new options for families with children in this age group.

In the Preschool 3-year old category, parents may choose between a 3-day a week class meeting Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and a 5-day a week class meeting Monday – Friday.

For our Pre-Kindergarten 4-year old category, parents may choose a 3-day a week class that will meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, or a 4-day a week class that meets Monday – Thursday with the option of adding an extra Fabulous Friday for curriculum enrichment.

All Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten classes will meet from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Extended care will be available before and after school if needed.

Pre-Kindergarten and Preschool Activities
Classroom activities will include weekly Bible stories, weather and calendar activities, center time, dramatic play, and working with a manipulative for counting, classifying and sorting. Daily crafts will involve the fine motor skills of cutting, gluing, coloring, painting and printing.

Children will also work on early literacy skills through phonological awareness, oral language, letter and number recognition, and print awareness. Our story times will provide an excellent opportunity for the development of vocabulary and listening skills as well as story structure.

Children will also attend an Early Childhood chapel once a week where Bible stories will be introduced. Music will be an important part of our curriculum, and the children will participate in a weekly music class.

Playground activity is included daily which will allow children to continue development of their gross motor skills. Children will also participate in science and cooking experiences.

Furthermore, Our Early Childhood program will be enhanced by offering on campus field trips and celebrating special days to enrich our children’s classroom experiences. The following is a list of activities and on campus field trips being planned but not limited to the following:

Our Savior Lutheran Early Childhood program is designed to nurture the whole child through intellectual, physical, social and, most importantly spiritual development as we seek to build a foundation for classical education.
