Salvete Magistra a Principali!
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5:1-21
Dear OSL families,
Another great week to check off the calendar. It is amazing how quickly the days seem to fly as we begin the second half the year. We concluded second quarter this week and report cards will be mailed to you on Wednesday at noon. This is a good time to check in with your child’s teacher if you have any concerns. These check points in the year allow us to monitor your child’s growth and help us to identify any needs. Use this opportunity to celebrate your child’s success and thank your child’s teacher for his/her work. It is a wonderful partnership we share with one another to ensure your child’s academic success.
Tickets went on sale this week for the annual Eagle Evening on 2/18. Be sure to thank your PTL board for their hard work in preparing for this evening. It takes many hands to make this a success. We rely on these events to provide improvements to our school. We are very grateful for all they do. It is a selfless gift they give to all of us. Thank you to the PTL!
We are looking forward to the JV girls’ basketball tournament here on campus this weekend. We wish great success to our girls, but we also are thankful for the opportunity to share our campus and community with our sister schools. We thank Miss Lunsford for her efforts and experience to make this event a success for our girls.
School is not in session on Monday in observance of the holiday. On Tuesday, our scholars will have the opportunity to visit next year’s grade and teachers. This is our annual Step-Up Day. The entire class will move up to the next grade and meet with that teacher in his/her classroom. This is an exciting day for our scholars and teachers. You will receive a flyer from the next grade’s teacher which will give you more information about the upcoming year. As we are in re-enrollment season, this is a great opportunity for you to connect with those teacher(s).
Our teachers are preparing for MAPS testing again the last week of January (24-28). Please make every effort to avoid appointments that will cause your child to be off campus during this week. We have a very strict schedule we must follow to ensure that all our scholars receive the opportunity to perform their very best.
We pray you have a wonderful rest-filled 3-day weekend. We invite you to join us on Sunday morning for worship beginning at 9:30 a.m. and Sunday School following.
Current COVID Mitigation Plan
When an OSL scholar or staff member has been diagnosed with COVID-19, quarantine is scheduled for five days and may return to school on the sixth day from the day symptoms appear. If they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours), they may return to school following the observed five-day quarantine and then encouraged to wear a mask for an additional 5 days when around others.
If a known exposure to COVID-19 occurs, those that are unvaccinated follow the same protocol above in quarantine. No quarantine is required if vaccinated, but mask-wearing is encouraged for ten days following exposure.
We continue to inform families if a possible exposure happened while at school.
We will send weekly communication to the entire school community with a count of active cases. We will post this in our weekly newsletter sent on Friday afternoons.
Church members, please remember to complete the yellow attendance card each Sunday when you attend church. This is what we rely on for recording church and Sunday school attendance.
Parental Supervision of Children on Campus
Children whose parents are volunteering on campus must remain with their parents. If children join the Extended Care children to play, these children will be checked into extended care as it causes confusion for our workers otherwise. We respectfully ask parents who are on campus to supervise their children away from where Extended Care is whether it be in the cafeteria or outside. If you as a parent, are volunteering in some capacity on campus, your children are not allowed to roam freely. All unsupervised children will be checked into Extended Care. Parents will then be expected to check their child out of extended care upon leaving the campus. This is for the safety of all of our children.
Re-enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year is open through January 31, 2022 for current students only. Current students must re-enroll for each school year - students are not automatically registered. ALL contributions, tuition, extended care accounts and band must be current in order for families to re-enroll. Enrollment packets will be available in RenWeb Family Portal to current accounts. Please note: if you are blocked you will not have access to RenWeb for grades, homework, etc. Once you have made a payment in RenWeb/FACTS to bring your account current, please notify the school office so we can re-activate your account for re-enrollment/registration and all services. RenWeb charges a $10 processing fee per student registration. FACTS assess an Enrollment Fee for account set-up in their system. January is reserved for current students to re-enroll. Enrollment will open to the public on February 1, 2022. Tuition information can be accessed HERE.
